S-LEAD is a program sponsored by the Vietnamese government that offers leadership training to select senior officials. S-LEAD was established in 2015 and is supported by the Vietnam Initiative, Indiana University, and the U.S. Department of State. 
Through the program, two cohorts of Vietnamese officials come to the U.S. each year as S-LEAD Fellows for four months of research and training. While in the U.S., S-LEAD fellows:
• conduct research projects related to their work under the supervision of a faculty member at Indiana University;
• take graduate courses in policy analysis, management, and leadership at SPEA;
• visit and study different U.S. government agencies at both the federal and state level; and
• participate in an executive leadership program at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts
